My Process
This five-step process drives the development of your portfolio.

- Understand Each Other — First, we meet to learn your time lines, wealth structure, risk tolerance, immediate income needs, and long term plans and goals. I encourage you to consider your entire financial horizon so we make the right financial decisions in context.
- Create Your Investment Policy Statement (IPS) — Your IPS will involve my comprehensive strategy for your financial future. It will also outline tax considerations, income needs, your unique circumstances, and the levels of service and communication you can expect from me. I will ensure you understand and agree to all aspects of the plan.
- Implement the Plan — I will ascertain the optimal asset allocation and determine the best investment structure, stocks and strategies for your situation.
If you have good relationships with other advisors such as legal, accounting, estate planning, or insurance specialists, I am happy to work with them; otherwise, I can recommend or liaise with top people on your behalf.
- Study and Monitor the Plan — I take a proactive approach, monitoring your investments every month and rebalancing when necessary. I perform due diligence to ensure you continue to get the best returns the market can provide at all times. This is why I do not believe in mutual funds. They are far too large to be monitored properly; you can lose money without realizing it in time to correct the situation.
- Report and Communicate — In addition to our quarterly meetings, our fee-based program provides quarterly and customized reporting. In addition to the monthly statement that Blackmont generates, a progress report will be provided to you every quarter that includes a balance sheet, profit and loss and cash flow summary. An added benefit to this regular quarterly progress report is a realized gain and loss statement at the end of each year for tax purposes.
