Proactive Process
Our four-step process drives the development of your portfolio.

Step 1: Understanding
Through in-depth discussion and financial analysis with you, we create a detailed profile of your overall situation: time horizon, risk tolerance, goals, and expectations. We may also prepare a detailed personal investment plan to help you manage debt or implement a consistent savings strategy.
Step 2: Planning
We prepare an individualized investment plan for you that outlines our asset allocation strategy recommendation and our service and communication commitments, so that you know exactly what to expect when working with us.
Step 3: Implementing
We select investments to implement the asset allocation recommendation outlined in your investment plan. Each portfolio is constructed with investments that are aligned with your risk and return objectives, while incorporating estate planning and tax saving strategies.
Your portfolio is constructed using combinations of managed and advised accounts:
- Managed accounts are run by external investment managers on a discretionary basis. In these accounts you enjoy the benefits of owning the individual securities in your account.
- Advised accounts are run on a non-discretionary basis. We make recommendations for these accounts but you maintain ultimate control over the investment decisions being made. These accounts can hold virtually any investment vehicle.
Step 4: Reviewing
Your investments will continually be monitored and, when necessary, rebalanced to enhance performance. We believe in keeping our clients informed and organized with regard to their investments. You can expect the following:
- Performance update — a customized investment report that is prepared by us in a format and at a frequency level you desire.
- Monthly statements — produced by Blackmont Capital Inc., these show your holdings at the end of each month.
- Quarterly statements — generated by our fee-based program, these show your holdings at the end of each quarter. Also included are a balance sheet, profit and loss reporting, and a cash flow summary. An added benefit is the annual realized gain and loss statement, which simplifies your tax reporting.
- As well, we provide comprehensive year-end performance reporting that outlines realized capital gains and losses so that you understand how your portfolio is working for you.
Key to the reviewing phase is a personal meeting to determine if your profile is accurate and, by extension, whether it continues to meet your current and future financial needs. We commit to meeting with you at least once a year to ensure your profile accurately reflects your current situation.
